Hello Cape Fear SORBA. The club has a few announcements to make.
CAPE FEAR SORBA ELECTIONS
First off it is time for elections for the New Year. We are accepting nominations for all positions as follows: Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President, and President.
Please email all nominations to Barry Wray at: wrayb@uncw.edu
We will be accepting nominations for these positions from now until the April 2nd. Election day will be April 9th.
WORKDAY AND CLUB MEETING APRIL 9TH AT BRUNSWICK NATURE PARK
Speaking of Election Day, that day will also be the day we have a large workday at the Brunswick County Nature Park. We are currently in the process of cutting in the new beginner trail using mini-excavators and once that is done we will need manpower to help with the actual shaping and forming of the new trail. Want to see what we have done so far? Check out our video and blog post here: https://capefearsorba.org/?p=281
We don’t want this to be just a regular workday though. We would like this to be a family friendly day! Bring the family out to the park to enjoy the beautiful spring weather and help us build the next segment of trail that will be the most family friendly beginner trail in our region. For the meeting we will be providing hamburgers and hotdogs as well as drinks. Everyone is encouraged to bring side dishes along for everyone to enjoy!
MEETING DETAILS: THE WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE AND WHY!
The workday will begin at 9am at the last parking lot farthest from the entrance to the park across from the picnic shelter. We will be moving dirt around and shaping/forming the new trail. Please bring shovels and rakes with you. The club will provide additional tools. The workday will run from 9-5 that day and you can show up anytime during the day to help, even if its just for an hour or two. Remember you have to be a Cape Fear SORBA member to participate in the workday. Fun Fact: You can now join CFSORBA directly from our website navigation bar! We also encourage your to bring the family out with you to simply enjoy the park.
The club meeting, with elections as the main focus of our agenda, will begin at approximately 5pm at the picnic shelter across from the parking lot. Hamburgers, hotdogs, and drinks will be provided by the club. We ask and encourage you to bring additional side-dishes to help supplement the meal! If you cannot attend the meeting you can also vote via email or stop and vote during the workday if you are able to be there for part of the day.
Please RSVP to the meeting so we know how much food to bring! Email Greg at: gregb@brinsonandsons.com to RSVP
DIRECTIONS
If coming from Wilmington, follow the signs across the bridge for US 17N/US 74. Take the exit for State Route 133/Southport/Oak Island and make a left off the exit ramp. Go approximately 7 miles and you will come to the Brunswick County Nature Park on your right. Enter the park and drive all the way to the very back where you will find a round parking lot across from a covered picnic shelter. That is the parking lot we will begin our day in. If you come later in the day someone will be stationed at either the parking lot or the picnic shelter to direct you.
