Weekend Update
Hey everyone! Hope you are looking forward to a beautiful fall weekend! We have the short event update coming to you but first a couple of small things.
First of all back a couple of months ago we were awarded the IMBA HucknRoll Grant! You may have seen it in the regional trail news that IMBA sends out on occasion. Well I am happy to announce that we have received the funds! The exact time we will use the money has yet to be decided but it will go towards a kid friendly workday at some point in the future. Lets teach them how this workday thing goes young!
In addition, with the time change looming the ladies of Cape Fear SORBA will be changing up their schedule for the ladies only ride. The ride will now take place at 9:30am on the first and third Sundays of each month. It will start AFTER the Brunswick Brawl on Nov 6th. For questions or more info you can email the ride leaders SueMay (dirtsnaks@yahoo.com) or Natalia (natis1974@aol.com).
Weekend Events
Speaking of SueMay and Natalia, they will be holding down the fort at Two Wheeler Dealer this Saturday as our membership drive continues! They will be hanging around from 10am-2pm. Come signup or renew your membership, buy some raffle tickets, or pick up some information about the upcoming events! Of course you can also ask all sorts of questions about the ladies rides to!
On Sunday it will be another wonderful trailgating day! Kirsten will be maintaining the table, with help from friends throughout the day. Stop by and grab a Clif Bar (only a few left!) and ask about all the fun stuff we got going on!
Future Events
Don’t forget that coming up with have two very big events for the club. First on November 6th is the Brunswick Brawl Short Track Race. Details on that race can be found here: Brunswick Brawl Page

Membership Drive(s)
We are doing 2 membership drive tables this weekend! First, I will be setting up an impromptu table at Two Wheeler Dealer today (Friday) from 10am-about 2pm. Then on Saturday Jamie Champion, our Bike Patrol Coordinator, will be doing the same from 10-2. Come out and buy some raffle tickets for a gift certificate to TWD or win a set of Maxxis MTB tires. One Day of Service with Troop 274: Workday at Blue Clay Saturday from 9am to 3pm
Also don’t forget that there will be a workday at Blue Clay this weekend with the Boy Scouts of Troop 274.This is expected to be a very big workday. How big you ask? Oh so very big. Like 50 to 100 boy scouts big. Like bobcat will be in use big. Like we need people to come out and help big! Cape Fear SORBA members will be working right along side scouts from Troop 274 to improve a section of trail that has needed work since the large amounts of rain we recieved recently. We are having crush and run dropped off by the county, hopefully the use of a bobcat, and several concrete blocks to lay down as a foundation. We will be elevating this section of trail so that in the future it doesn’t turn into a mud bog! The workday will run from 9AM TO 3PM. There will be a lunch provided but we have to know how many people may be coming! So email Blue Clay Trail Coordinator Barry Wray at wrayb12@gmail.com if you are coming.
Trail-gating at Blue Clay Sunday from 10am-2pm
Last but not least, I will be trail-gating this weekend at the Blue Clay Bike Park from 10am-2pm. Hopefully the trails will have dried out a bit by then! So come out and say hi, buy some raffle tickets, and check out the work from Saturday’s workday!
Thanks everyone, happy trails!

One Day of Service with Troop 274: Workday at Blue Clay this Saturday
Hi everyone in Cape Fear SORBA land. This is a reminder that there is a BIG BIG BIG workday coming up this weekend at Blue Clay. We will be elevating this section of trail so that in the future it doesn’t turn into a mud bog! The workday will run from 9AM TO 3PM.
With that I need to ask if you could PLEASE let us know you are coming this weekend! There will be food provided but we need to get something resembling a headcount so that we know how much food to have!
If you plan on coming please email Blue Clay Trail Coordinator Barry Wray at wrayb12@gmail.com. This is very important! We also need as many club members out there as well to help direct the scouts while the work is being done! This is a great opportunity to fix a big problem in one day folks, so please help us take advantage of it!
Also, anyone that takes photo’s do me a favor and email them to info@capefearsorba.com. All photo’s would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks everyone, and we hope to see you at Blue Clay on Saturday!
