WORK DAY REMINDER: BRUNSWICK COUNTY NATURE PARK 12/11/2010

I would like to remind everyone about our Second work day at Brunswick County Nature Park.

Date: Saturday December 11th
Time: 9:00 to 4:30

Notice: Last week we were told by Brunswick County Parks Dept. that every worker must be a CFS member because of the County’s insurance stipulation. However, there may be a way to allow non-CFS members to work this weekend by signing a waiver form from the Brunswick County Land Trust. We are waiting for confirmation from the Parks Dept. on this…I’ll send another email as soon as we know something.

Cape Fear SORBA Update 05/24/10

Hello again Cape Fear SORBA

Your Vice President, Austin Fenwick here with some updates for the club! Its been a busy couple of weeks since you last heard from the board so lets get right to the new information!

First of all I would like to apologize, I did say in the last email update that the website would be up by now, but our wonderful webmaster has had some personal issues as of late and has been unable to complete the website as early as he had expected. Please be patient as we continue to work very hard on getting the site up and running.

June 5th Work day and Race Series Finale information
In a little less than two weeks we will be hosting the finale of the East Carolina MTB Race Series at the Blue Clay Bike Park. With that in mind there are things that need to be done! First of all there will be a work day on JUNE 5TH to help prepare Blue Clay for the following day’s race. We will be raking, trimming and touching up some problem areas with crush and run among other things. CFSORBA members please meet at the parking lot at 9am. We expect that we should be done by no later than 2pm. If you have any questions about the work day please email President Greg Brinson at gregb@brinsonandsons.com

In addition, on race day we will also need volunteers for various race day functions. We would like as many as 16 volunteers to help with various jobs throughout the day. These jobs will include: manning the road crossing, registration, trail safety positions during the race, timing, parking, and we will also need a couple of people to help lead the kids race. These volunteers are VERY important to the race and we would love to see as many people as possible come out to help! If you would like to help please email our volunteer coordinator for the event Jamie Champion at jamie@championspanish.com.

Remember that if you are going to race but you have a friend or family member coming out to the event with you, ask them to help out. We promise that it won’t be hard labor, and everyone gets some great BBQ at the end!

CFSORBA group ride in Raleigh Memorial Day weekend
Cape Fear SORBA’s new ride coordinator Jesse Savage has put together a group ride for membership to take place on Saturday May 29th in the Raleigh area. The ride is expected to start at the Lake Crabtree trails and branch out from there. The plan is to carpool up together and split gas money so that as many people can go as possible. If you are interested in going give Jesse a shout and let him know! His phone number is 264-1465 or you can email him at jsavage@ec.rr.com. Please let him know as soon as possible so that he can coordinate rides! Also if you have ride suggestions for this or any other ride, let him know! We want to make being a part of CFSORBA about riding just as much as building trails!

Also, as a reminder, I want to let all CFSORBA members know that if you have any concerns with what is happening within the club we want you to let us know. Please contact the board with any concerns you have and we will get back to you asap. We want to be able to address any issue that comes up, thats what we are here for!

There will be more updates soon, including a likely club meeting sometime after the race at BC on the 6th. Stay tuned! With any luck our website will be up by then!
