You can email info@capefearsorba.com with your name, address, email, and phone number and of course the size that you would want. You will then be sent an invoice via paypal to pay. Remember I must recieve the order TODAY for it to be included.

Now then on to the weekends events.

Membership Drive(s)

We are doing 2 membership drive tables this weekend! First, I will be setting up an impromptu table at Two Wheeler Dealer today (Friday) from 10am-about 2pm. Then on Saturday Jamie Champion, our Bike Patrol Coordinator, will be doing the same from 10-2. Come out and buy some raffle tickets for a gift certificate to TWD or win a set of Maxxis MTB tires. Renew your membership, pick up info on upcoming events, or you can just say hi!

One Day of Service with Troop 274: Workday at Blue Clay Saturday from 9am to 3pm

Also don’t forget that there will be a workday at Blue Clay this weekend with the Boy Scouts of Troop 274.This is expected to be a very big workday. How big you ask? Oh so very big. Like 50 to 100 boy scouts big. Like bobcat will be in use big. Like we need people to come out and help big! Cape Fear SORBA members will be working right along side scouts from Troop 274 to improve a section of trail that has needed work since the large amounts of rain we recieved recently. We are having crush and run dropped off by the county, hopefully the use of a bobcat, and several concrete blocks to lay down as a foundation. We will be elevating this section of trail so that in the future it doesn’t turn into a mud bog! The workday will run from 9AM TO 3PM. There will be a lunch provided but we have to know how many people may be coming! So email Blue Clay Trail Coordinator Barry Wray at wrayb12@gmail.com if you are coming.

Trail-gating at Blue Clay Sunday from 10am-2pm

Last but not least, I will be trail-gating this weekend at the Blue Clay Bike Park from 10am-2pm. Hopefully the trails will have dried out a bit by then! So come out and say hi, buy some raffle tickets, and check out the work from Saturday’s workday!

Thanks everyone, happy trails!

Brunswick Nature Park Update

Hello all! This is an update on the Brunswick Nature Park for everyone! Tonight we have some maps to show everyone that will give you all a good idea what the trails currently look like and what we are turning in for approval. Lets start with the current section shall we?

Current Trails at BNP

The above map shows approximately what the trails at the Brunswick Nature Park look like currently. The trail loop to in the green color on the top left of the map has not yet been made. While the trails on the right hand side (the beginner section) have recently been connected they are not quite fully complete. There is still a bit of touch up work to be done to level out a few places and shape up some berms that need to be adjusted. However, this should give everyone a basic idea of the trails that Cape Fear SORBA has built so far.

Next section of Brunswick Nature Park trail: still awaiting approval

This map is of the next section of trail that we hope to build that will be connected via the green trail that I mentioned on the first map. At about 2.4 miles this trail will be more advanced with obstacles like log rides, drops, wooden berms and the like. The approximate locations of the obstacles have been labeled on this map. The obstacles will all have go arounds so that you can avoid them if you feel like your skill level isn’t ready for them. This map is showing the trail as we have proposed and we are still waiting for the Coastal Land Trust to approve this section. This plan was recently turned into the Land Trust for their approval and we hope that we can begin construction of this section in the fall of this year. With some luck the construction will be under way when the IMBA Trail Care Crew visits Nov. 10th-13th.

Anyway, I hope that these maps are mouth watering enough to everyone to get you excited! Remember, the 2nd map is still pending approval but we will need help to build it! Get excited folks and help us build come fall! It’ll be worth it!

Workday and Club Meeting: April 9th at BCNP

Come out and help us build the trail!

Hello Cape Fear SORBA. The club has a few announcements to make.

CAPE FEAR SORBA ELECTIONS
First off it is time for elections for the New Year. We are accepting nominations for all positions as follows: Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President, and President.

Please email all nominations to Barry Wray at: wrayb@uncw.edu

We will be accepting nominations for these positions from now until the April 2nd. Election day will be April 9th.

WORKDAY AND CLUB MEETING APRIL 9TH AT BRUNSWICK NATURE PARK
Speaking of Election Day, that day will also be the day we have a large workday at the Brunswick County Nature Park. We are currently in the process of cutting in the new beginner trail using mini-excavators and once that is done we will need manpower to help with the actual shaping and forming of the new trail. Want to see what we have done so far? Check out our video and blog post here: https://capefearsorba.org/?p=281

We don’t want this to be just a regular workday though. We would like this to be a family friendly day! Bring the family out to the park to enjoy the beautiful spring weather and help us build the next segment of trail that will be the most family friendly beginner trail in our region. For the meeting we will be providing hamburgers and hotdogs as well as drinks. Everyone is encouraged to bring side dishes along for everyone to enjoy!

MEETING DETAILS: THE WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE AND WHY!
The workday will begin at 9am at the last parking lot farthest from the entrance to the park across from the picnic shelter. We will be moving dirt around and shaping/forming the new trail. Please bring shovels and rakes with you. The club will provide additional tools. The workday will run from 9-5 that day and you can show up anytime during the day to help, even if its just for an hour or two. Remember you have to be a Cape Fear SORBA member to participate in the workday. Fun Fact: You can now join CFSORBA directly from our website navigation bar! We also encourage your to bring the family out with you to simply enjoy the park.

The club meeting, with elections as the main focus of our agenda, will begin at approximately 5pm at the picnic shelter across from the parking lot. Hamburgers, hotdogs, and drinks will be provided by the club. We ask and encourage you to bring additional side-dishes to help supplement the meal! If you cannot attend the meeting you can also vote via email or stop and vote during the workday if you are able to be there for part of the day.

Please RSVP to the meeting so we know how much food to bring! Email Greg at: gregb@brinsonandsons.com to RSVP

DIRECTIONS
If coming from Wilmington, follow the signs across the bridge for US 17N/US 74. Take the exit for State Route 133/Southport/Oak Island and make a left off the exit ramp. Go approximately 7 miles and you will come to the Brunswick County Nature Park on your right. Enter the park and drive all the way to the very back where you will find a round parking lot across from a covered picnic shelter. That is the parking lot we will begin our day in. If you come later in the day someone will be stationed at either the parking lot or the picnic shelter to direct you.

QUESTIONS
If you have any questions concerning the workday/meeting please email President Greg Brinson (gregb@brinsonandsons.com) or Vice President Austin Fenwick (austincycles@gmail.com).

Thanks everyone, we hope to see you at the workday and/or meeting!
